🌧️ Embracing the Elements: Rainy Journey to Institute of Forestry, Hetauda 🌿

Traversing the Mahendra highway amidst the rain, I embarked on a wet and wild adventure to teach MSc students of Wildlife Conservation at the Institute of Forestry, Hetauda. The rain-soaked road painted a poetic backdrop as vehicles splashed water over me – a valiant herpetofauna enthusiast on a mission. In that moment, I couldn't help but reflect on the age-old struggle of dominance between the mighty and the delicate – a reflection mirrored in the realms of snakes, frogs, and lizards.

As I rode on, raindrops danced on my jacket, and a sense of exhilaration filled the air. The journey to Hetauda was soaked not just in rainwater but also in anticipation. The knowledge that awaited these students was the fuel that kept me pushing forward.

Amidst the rain, memories of a curious incident surfaced. I had purchased a raincoat from a shopkeeper who confidently guaranteed its waterproof capabilities. However, despite wearing the raincoat properly, I found myself fully wet. The raincoat had proved to be useless, even though I had paid a considerable amount for it. This incident served as a reminder that some things don't live up to their promises, and it was a lesson in the unpredictable nature of both rain and life.

Finally, after what felt like a journey through the heart of a monsoon, a warm tea stop awaited me 16 km ahead of Hetauda. The contrast of the cozy tea shop against the rain-soaked landscape was a welcome respite. As the warmth seeped back into my bones, I took a moment to appreciate the small joys – the way the steam rose from the cup, the chatter of fellow travelers, and the feeling of being one with the elements.

With renewed energy and a grateful heart, I continued the final stretch of my journey. The anticipation of imparting knowledge, of igniting curiosity in the minds of students, pushed me through every raindrop and puddle.

And so, dear reader, that rainy journey to the Institute of Forestry, Hetauda was not just a wet adventure – it was a reminder that in our pursuit of knowledge and connection with the natural world, we must sometimes brave the elements, get soaked to the bone, and find warmth in the simple joys along the way.

Carrying forward this experience, I resolved to equip myself with not just one but two raincoats – a plastic one to complement the expensive but ineffective raincoat. Lessons learned from both nature and human-made items often provide us with insights that enrich our understanding of the world.
